Pulmonary metastasis: sarcoma

Male, 29. Sarcoma removed from left leg three years ago. Control chest CT showed isolated nodule in right inferior lobe. The surgery identified another unsuspected nodule in the same lobe.

Ivor-Lewis esophagectomy

Male, 71 years old. Adenocarcinoma compromising the cardia and distal esophagus (4 cm). Reconstruction with body and gastric antrus was done 10 cm above the macroscopic proximal tumor limit. A gastric tube appears in the opened stomach and was put through jejunum. Surgical stage was T2N1M0.

Intercostal neuritis after blunt chest trauma.

Young woman victim of contundent right chest trauma and rib fractures presented with severe chronic pain. Treatment with opioid analgesic and intercostal nerve block wasn't sucessfull. Surgical treatment with three intercotal nerve resections was done through VATS.

Expansive lesion in the sixth rib.

Male, 84 years old, complaining of chest pain, presented with expansive lesion in the sixth left rib. CT scan showed bone destruction. The procedure was parcial resection of the rib including all lesion. Reconstruction of the chest wall was carried out with marlex mesh.

Wedge resection for bronchial carcinoma

71 years old man with limited pulmonary function and mass in left inferior lobe.

Condroadenoma

Female, 64, with a solitary pulmonary nodule that shown growth in 60 days CT scan control. The procedure with frozen section examination,was just precision removal.

Chest wall necrosis after radiotherapy

Young man recieved chemotherapy and radiotherapy as treatment for lymphoma located in mediastinum. Necrosis of the chest wall produced rib destruction and great ulceration that developed secondary infection. Surgycal approach was skin and rib ressection followed by cleaning of the wound. Reconstruction consisted of skin flap.

NSCLC CNS metastasis

Brain and cerebelar metastasis as initial presentation of non small-cell lung cancer in a 52 years-old man. 10 CNS metastasis were the cause of neural disorders. No other metastatic site was found.

Bronchial carcinoma of inferior left lobe

Man, 78 years old, was brought to emergency consultation due vague complain, depression and weight loss. Investigation was carried out with chest x-ray that was diagnostic for a gross mass in left inferior lobe. CT of the chest showed the lesion with probably compromise of inferior pulmonay vein and pleural effusion. Respiratory endoscopy showed tumor in the inferior lobar bronchus. Thoracocentesis reveal clear effusion and pelural Cope specimen was roughly thick.

Superior vena cava syndrome

Male, 47 years old, with progressive dyspnea was sent to the thoracic service of Hospital Geral - Caxias do sul. X-ray showed right hilar mass with widen superior mediastynum. Clinical relevant fidings were colateral circulation in superior chest and neck, typical superior vena cava syndrome. The patient's initial investigation was done with thoracic and superior abdominal CT, bronchoscopy and mediastynoscopy. Endoscopy confirmed endobronchial tumor at right superior lobe bronchus. Mediastinoscopy findings were bulky mediastynal desease. Both tissue diagnosis were adenocarcinoma. After this investigation, the patient was sent to oncologyc clinical treatment.
